Invest Locally

For every $100 spent at a locally owned business, $45 stays in the local economy, creating jobs and expanding the city's tax base. For every $100 spent at a national chain or franchise store, only $14 remains in the community.

The Downtown Bangor Partnership announces the 7th annual Outdoor Market.  Based on the success of previous years the market has extended through the month of August.  The market, located along Broad Street and in West Market Square, will be held Thursdays June 21st-August 30th from 5:00 PM- 8:00 PM.  It will be held in conjunction with the Cool Sounds free concert series from 6:00 PM- 7:30 PM on the same dates.

All items sold must be handmade, prepared or raised by the vendor; emphasis is placed on Maine-made, specialty food items and produce. Past vendors have sold baked goods, candy, furniture, handbags, jams, jewelry, photography, soap, toys and much more. Food vendors are also invited to sign up as vendors. Typical market shoppers include downtown employees and residents, people from surrounding communities and tourists.
