Become active with the Downtown Bangor Partnership

The Downtown Bangor Partnership (DBP) represents downtown business and building owners, employees, residents and visitors alike. Downtown Bangor Partnership has no membership requirement besides being located within the downtown district. DBP is managed by a board of directors and is charged with promoting and marketing activities that enhance the distinctive identity of downtown Bangor which encourages retention and growth of commercial, residential, and cultural life within the downtown district.

Board of Directors: Members must live, work or own property in the Downtown District. Members are charged with fostering and assisting in the rehabilitation and redevelopment of property in what has been designated by the City of Bangor as the Bangor Center Development District by investing in the improvement of the quality of amenities in the aforementioned district, including physical facilities and structures; by facilitating and participating in the general promotion of the area; and by participating in the City of Bangorís community and economic planning as it affects the downtown district.  The board meets monthly and all board members are required to serve on one committee.  See the attachments below for more details on Board Member positions.

Standing Committees:  Committee membership is open to any that consider themselves a downtown stakeholder and are willing to work to attain the goals of DBP.  Committees typically meet monthly.

Advocacy: works to build and maintain a strong relationship with the Council and provides insight and advice to the Council on issues that impact Downtown such as code, infrastructure, public safety and parking needs. 

Activities & Events: produces a series of activities and events that draw public attention and attendance Downtown; Outdoor Market and Cool Sounds Concerts (June-August), Downtown Trick or Treating (October), Downtown Holiday Festival Day (December) and Downtown Countdown (New Yearís Eve).  We also provide advice and support to other organizations that produce events downtown.  This committee oversees the beautification program including street side planters, planter boxes along the Kenduskeag Stream and an avenue banner program.  This committee is currently reviewing our program of events and looking for opportunities to best align events with downtown business needs.

Marketing: oversees our communications plan, promotions, advertising campaigns and co-ops.  This committee conducts market research to assure our initiatives are in line with business needs and to keep our finger on the pulse of what the public wants and needs from downtown.

Networking and Outreach: works to strengthen communication provide information and educational opportunities for downtown stakeholders.  In the coming year this committee plans to host networking socials, workshops and other events which will serve to help you in growing your business.

One-Time Opportunities:
From time to time DBP needs volunteers to work at events such as Santa's Workshop, Downtown Countdown, Cool Sounds etc.  These are one time volunteer opportunities with minimal time commitment.  With an all volunteer board of directors and part time staff our events are not possible with the support of volunteers.
