Get Involved

This is your chance to be part of all the new and exciting things happening in Downtown Bangor!

The Downtown Bangor Partnership (DBP) represents downtown businesses, building owners, employees, residents and visitors. The Downtown Bangor Partnership has no membership requirement besides being located within the downtown district. DBP is managed by a board of directors and is charged with promoting and marketing activities that enhance the distinctive identity of Downtown Bangor and that encourage retention and growth of commercial, residential, and cultural life within the downtown area.

Board of Directors
Board members must live, work or own property in the downtown district. Members are charged with fostering and assisting in the rehabilitation, redevelopment and promotion of property in what has been designated by the City of Bangor as the Bangor Center Development District. The board meets monthly and all board members are required to serve on one committee.

Standing Committees
Committee membership is open to any downtown stakeholder. Committees typically meet monthly.

Advocacy
Members work to build and maintain a strong relationship with the City Council and to provide insight and advice to the Council on issues that impact Downtown Bangor such as code, infrastructure, public safety and parking needs.

Activities & Events
The DBP produces a series of activities and events that draw public attention and attendance downtown including the Outdoor Market and Cool Sounds Concerts (June-August) and the Downtown Countdown (New Year’s Eve).  We also provide advice and support to other organizations that produce events downtown.  This committee oversees the beautification program including street side planters, planter boxes along the Kenduskeag Stream and an avenue banner program.

Marketing
Our Marketing Committee oversees our communications plan, promotions, advertising campaigns and co-ops.  This committee conducts market research to assure our initiatives are in line with business needs and to keep our finger on the pulse of what the public wants and needs from downtown.

Networking and Outreach
The DBP Networking and Outreach Committee works to strengthen communication and to provide information and educational opportunities for downtown stakeholders. Activities this year have included Quarterly Retailers' Meetings, Downtown Town Hall Meetings, Hard Hat Happy Hours and an Apartment Open House.

One-Time Opportunities
From time to time DBP needs volunteers to work at events. These are one-time volunteer opportunities with minimal time commitment.  With an all-volunteer board of directors and part-time staff our events are not possible with the support of volunteers. Please feel free to contact us if you'd like to help out with an upcoming event!
